Douglas,

Nope, the FDF is a separate file. I usually use a source member. Here's
an example:

RCACNO 1 10 0
RCCKNO 11 20 0
RCCAMT 21 30 0
RCCPDT 31 36 0
RCCODE 37 37 0
*END

There's someplace in the infocenter that describes the format in detail;
if my memory serves the above is:
FIELDNAM STARTPOS ENDPOS ALLOW NULL

The field name match the field to which the data will be load in the DB
file. I believe this is the same format as the FDF file used by the
iSeries Access data transfer utility.

Basically it describes the format of the stream file so that OS/400 can
map between the stream file and the DB file. OS/400 doesn't expect the
fields between the stream file and DB file to be in the same order, have
the same size, or even the same number of fields (the DB file could
default to NULL or some other value for some fields.)

I'd be nice if there was an option to say, forget the FDF as the stream
file is an exact match to the DB file. But that isn't the case.

HTH,

Charles Wilt
