We have Doug Mack from IBM coming to our Seattle area LUG Feb 9th meeting (PMSA - Pacific Midrange Systems Association - www.pacificmidrange.org ). He will be presenting on the new DB2 enhancements in V5R4. Glenn Here's a short summary of the presentation: "DB2 UDB for iSeries: V5R4 Update and other interesting stuff" Description: I know, you're just getting used to V5R3 and here we come with V5R4 already! But there is some good stuff here related to DB2 - including autonomic indexing (what the heck is that?), On Demand Performance Center, and other goodies to share with you. ** SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY Doug Mack is part of the eServer i5 Worldwide Sales Executive Team, with responsibilities for DB2 UDB for iSeries, Business Intelligence, and AIX on eServer i5. His twenty-five year career with IBM spans many roles, including System/38 and AS/400 microprocessor development, AS/400 Data Warehouse Segment Manager for the Americas, Certified Software Sales specialist, and as the DB2 UDB for iSeries Marketing Manager. Doug is a featured speaker at User Group conferences and meetings, IBM Technical conferences, and Executive Briefings. -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Jerry Adams Sent: Wednesday, February 01, 2006 10:56 AM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: V5R4 infocenter The LUG would be the place to start. In the hour or two that most LUG's have for meetings, all that they can do is give an overview of what's new. COMMON, though, already has sessions scheduled specific to V5R4, such as CL enhancements and iSeries Navigator. Plus the best part is that there'll be folks there that know v5r4 (developers) and early migrators (both beta and fish food). I thought I read somewhere, Joel, that the Charlotte LUG died. Is there a resurgence? If not, having lived in Charlotte for several years, my best guess is that Atlanta would be the closest for you. Unless Wilmington has one (been there, done that, survived). Oh, almost forgot about Triad in Greensboro. They always have a good show; at least the times I went there. * Jerry C.
