You can do this:

1) TODAY = CURRENT(DATE) 
2) CURDAT = CHAR(TODAY)
3) CURYMD =  '20'||SUBSTR(CURDAT,7,2)|| SUBSTR(CURDAT,1,2)|| 
SUBSTR(CURDAT,4,2) 
4) INPUTDATE=DIGITS(Your YYYYMMDD date field)

Then, you can compare CURYMD with INPUTDATE.  On the other side, if you 
want to check for the previous date, I do not know how to handle that in a 
clean manner in a query.  Better then, you can develop a CLP that will 
have a command that will help you to nicely go back one day and send the 
parameters to the query.  That's more cleaner.
