I agree MQ is rock solid.

A few years ago I ahsd the same problem and used a red-book 'Using MQ Seies
on the AS/400' (SG24-5236-00) plus a couple of manuals. I forget their
names, but one was about using RPG with MQ and had all the programing detail
I required to write the software. It also had lots of example coding. If I
recall correctly, after you configure both ends, you can use some sample
programs that IBM provides to test the configuration before you get too deep
into yout own code.

MQ is great! It works, and I was able to solve all the problems I
encountered by reading through the manuals and finding the correct parameter
and setting.

Good luck!

Subject: MQ Series For Dummies

I need to set up and configure MQ Series to communicate between our iSeries
and the US Customs mainframe. We have never used MQ Series before so there
is no in-house knowledge. Frankly, I have no idea of where to start
learning this application.

Is there an 'MQ Series For Dummies' somewhere on the web? I have a copy of
the MQ Series Primer which I guess is a start.

I'm planning on using Sterling Gentran to do the actual communication but
that still leaves me with figuring out the concepts and administration of MQ
Series.

Thanks,

Gord Hutchinson
