This is in my view a dangerous outlook; our job is really to server
the business by keeping systems running and solving problems. Sooner
or later, something better is going to come along, whether by
evolution or by replacement.

I am looking at doing some of that later this year. Do you mind
sharing a few more specifics? Is it delivering the savings and ease
that is promised?

My company changed from Novell GroupWise to Microsoft Exchange and
Outlook, and I believe that it was worthwhile, financially and
operationally. The Outlook client is fantastic, terribly easy to use,
and so people come up to speed more quickly when joining the company
and we are seeing more use of the productivity features such as group
scheduling and task tracking.

Care to elaborate as to how, particularly with respect to a standalone
Windows server from IBM or HP?
