Just a guess, when you say batch you mean client/server and maybe with a
current user that is not the real user?

If so the spool doesn't belong to the job in which the program is running
but in a job called QPRTJOB/USERNAME/xxxxxx.
If this is your problem take a look at http://www.think400.dk/apier_5.htm
and at the bottom's page you'll find a cl to call QSPRILSP.
More information about it can be found searching QPRTJOB or QSPRILSP.
