Even if you have plenty of disk space it is strongly recommended that you apply all ptf's permenently, and IPL (and not just the IPL from alternate media to start the release upgrade), prior to upgrading the release of your OS. This will clean up some save files and some obscure IFS objects that otherwise will remain in perpetuity. I am having an issue with an IFS save reporting MCH3203, CPD376C against a remnant of V4R3 on machine that never skipped an OS release.
