I've seen this in emulation software before in some software I helped 
support.  In that case it had to do with using an interrupt to drive timer 
in the application, an we had to tweet (technical term) the code so it 
would not miss the a change in state from the 5250 session.

Might check with your vendor to see if they've ever had any CPU speed 
related problems (if you haven't already), especially if that is all that 
as essentially changed.  Also make sure they've tested with the same level 
of service packs on XP as what you have or if your behind what theyve 
tested at get current to them.
