Most modern ergonomic mice are oriented towards right-handers. Swapping the buttons is one thing but you can't mirror-image the physical shape. The mouse vendors have been reluctant to release leftie versions of their rodents. To reduce/defer the potential for a repetitive strain injury, I used to use the mouse left-handed at work & right-handed at home. I'm semi-ambidextrous so this wasn't difficult. But I like the more advanced mice like the Logitech MX1000 and it wasn't available in a leftie version.
