Real hazy memory here, but I believe ILE RPG supported the date/time
related datatypes in the initial V3R1 release. RPG/400 had very limited
access earlier than that with CVTOPT but I suspect (hope) that's not the
language you're interested in.

Around 1992 there was a partial release known as V2R1.1. This release
provided database support for date, time, timestamp, variable length
fields, and nulls.
