RE: Preventing Writes to Log file

Brian,

What you can do is affect the logging level of that job.  To be safe I
think you might want sev 30 or 40 or higher messages sent to the log so a
logging level of  1, 40, and *msg/*seclvl.  That can be controlled in
either the jobd, sbmjob, or even a chgjob.

Message logging:
  Level  . . . . . . . . . . . .   1             0-4, *SAME
  Severity . . . . . . . . . . .   40            0-99, *SAME
  Text . . . . . . . . . . . . .   *SECLVL       *SAME, *MSG, *SECLVL,
*NOLIST

With this setting only messages with a severity of 40 or higher will get
listed and the second level help will also get listed.  This is good if you
want or need help in problem determination.  If you don't you can change
the level to 0 and the text to *NOLIST.  I normally don't like to do that
but that is totally based on your preferences.  Jobs around here don't fail
hardly at all but when they do I want some assistance in determining the
cause.
