Just my thoughts, but the "i5" refers to the hardware, like "AS/400" (which most of us still use, though) and "iSeries."

Technically, V5R3 will run on "iSeries" machines (like our model 720). In which case wouldn't it be referred to as "OS/400"? While on our

model 520, it is "i5/OS" for sure.

But, like Don says, the terms are interchangeable. We still call it an "AS/400" though IBM hasn't done so in years. A rose by any other

name...

I think you'll find that the i5/OS and OS/400 are still used interchangeably. I think they're going to try to make a more concrete discernment in the January announcement, but then, who knows for sure until January(if then :)
