Now we're getting somewhere!   Are you talking about directory /tmp 
perchance?  If so, there's a blurb about that in the Memo to Users in the 
V5R3 upgrade.
CHGATR OBJ('/tmp') ATR(*RSTDRNMUNL) VALUE(*NO)
should fix it, if this is your case.
