Hard to tell how the printer is set up from your description, but maybe 
it's doing automatic page rotation and font changes?

Try CHGPRTF FILE(QSYSPRT) PAGRTT(0) (or an equivalnet OVRPRTF) and tell us 
if it solves the problem.
