Bad hardware? -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces+kkh=nwnatural.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces+kkh=nwnatural.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Dave Snyder Sent: Thursday, November 03, 2005 1:25 PM To: midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: 2749 for 3570 Did it all but it still will not recognize the tape device is there. >>> mboceanside@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx 11/3/05 2:29:51 PM >>> Yes...but it will autoconfig if you do a "cold start" with the new device installed. (1) vary off and delete the 9335 (2) Power down the system (3) Attach the new device (4) Power up (5) The new device should then be there. The system has no way of knowing you have attached different device unless it performs a hardware check. Since the tape is not doing anything, the system doesn't "see it"...(that's the theory). In the case of twinax, it's polling the devices to see if they are there and is it the same device it last saw. With the tapes, it has no reason to poll the device. OR Follow the book on installing the card and attaching a device. Just delete the old device prior to the "new" install.
