Use CHGSMTPA (F4) to review the SMTP configuration for the "mail router" attribute. Most likely, you'll see your mail router listed as SMTPGATE, which then is resolved for IP address in your hosts table. Instead of using this host lookup entry, simply change the mail router to your mail.xxxx.com name. You will need to end and restart the SMTP server to have the new config take effect. This method presumes that your DNS entries for mail.xxxx.com will change during DR to point to the backup site. Anyway we have our AS/400 setup to forward e-mail to our mail server in Florida via the IP Address. But whenever a hurricane comes we switch to a backup mail server. The way I have our AS/400 setup is in CFGTCP option 10 I have a Host Table entry called SMTPGATE that points to that IP address. Is there a way to have this point to our mail.xxxx.com name instead of the IP address? That way all mail, when we change our DNS to point to our secondary mail server, will go straight there without making any changes to the Host Table?
