Went to the local PC store.  They said USB 1.1 and DVD burning together are
bad, bad, bad.

So I got an external USB CD burner (which is what we're currently using
anyway) and it worked just dandy from the USB port on the IXS.

Leave it to IBM to do something as cool as the IXS card and all that it does
for us, and then make the USB ports 1.1 instead of 2.0.  Oh well.
