You can use Directory Shadowing to keep the directories on multiple
systems in sync. Directory Shadowing has been around forever on the
iSeries all the way back to V1 of the OS so you should be able to shadow
a V4R4 system to a V5R3 system but I have never tried it.

Lukas,

For doing SNADS over TCP/IP you will need to set up Anynet. Check out
Redbook SG24-2531. i thas a chapter that tells you step by step what to
do.

For copying the directry entries, sorry, I don't know a way to do it
except manually, and there MUST be a better way than that.

subject: SNADS over TCP/IP / Backing up/Restoring DIRE?

Hi,

Iam kinda now to the whole AS/400 World, but have a variety of
experiences with Linux and Windows.

I want to get two machines talking together using SNADS, and i didn't
really find some hands-on documentation on this on the Internet.

Can anyone point me into the right direction? Iam willing to read lot's
of documentation, but i can't find anything which seems relevant to what
i want to do.

These two Machines are running V5R3, and are both 520's.

My second problem is that i want to migrate WRKDIRE entries from an
older machine, running V4R4 to a new Machine, running V5R3. I looked at
the CMDSAV Menu, but didn't really find what i need to do. Anyone got
some documentation for this?

Thanks in Advance, and greetings from Switzerland
