It may be because the LJ2600 is one of the HP printers that does notsupport PCL and PS printing languages:

I suspect you'll only ever get this thing to print from Windows, usingthe HP drivers.

You may be able to set it as a shared printer on a Windows PC, and havethe AS/400 print to LJ2600 via the Windows PC, but I've never tried that.
