v5r3 feature -- MIDRANGE-L

When on v5r2, if we changed a file that was used in a query we had to
open the query and save it so it could pull in the new file definition,
otherwise we would get a level check when trying to RUNQRY the query.
This does not seem to be happening now that we are v5r3.
Was this a new feature that I missed reading about or am I missing
something else?
