Jerry,

I'm afraid that maybe I wasn't clear in my post (that happens when English is not your native language :-( )

She is the department's new manager. Most of their apps are in OS/400, although some of them are still working under the S/36 environment. She has decided to have them rewritten in RPGLE, which I, for one, wholeheartedly agree!! . I have worked with IBM's midrange systems since the S/34 and believe me, there is NOTHING like an AS/400 (real (old) men don't use iSeries or that sissy i5 :-) )

She was a little worried for undocumented features under the new OS Version (V5R3).

Thanks for your concern,

Luis Rodriguez

Luis,

The "problem" then would probably be her lack of /36 experience - and I
don't mean that in a derogatory way. I've been able to train /36
programmers to work on the iSeries. But going the other way is just
frustrating for them (and me).

I suggest she read up on the /36 environment, which can be set as a
system value or invoked as needed. It is a special animal. And that's
before she gets to RPG II and OCL.
