Luis,The "problem" then would probably be her lack of /36 experience - and I don't mean that in a derogatory way. I've been able to train /36 programmers to work on the iSeries. But going the other way is just frustrating for them (and me).
I suggest she read up on the /36 environment, which can be set as a system value or invoked as needed. It is a special animal. And that's before she gets to RPG II and OCL.

Jerry,Well, she wanted to know if, besides what the memo to users states, there was any issue with the S/36 environment (which she is not very knowledgeable about; she's more an OS/400 gal). Nothing beats day-to day experience, and this list has a lot of it!! Just check Kirk Goins' note about menus and message file (Thanks Kirk!!)She is supposed to migrate to a new 520 in about two months, and her shop (she's new in there) seems to have a lot of old S/36 apps. Thanks for your concern, Luis Rodríguez IBM Certified Systems Expert - eServer i5 iSeries Telf. Like Jim says, as long as you're talking QS36F, there have been no issues. It's a library like any other. I port save files of QS36F from our production to backup system twice daily and restore those suckers without a hitch. Previous to that I converted a 720 (v5R1) to our current 520 (v5r3) simply by saving and restoring the user libraries. Why, out of curiosity, would your associate think there would be a problem? Does s/he have something specific in mind that maybe bit 'em before? * Jerry C. Do note that w.V5R3 IBM no longer ships the base OS Migration software to convert true S36 or M36 code & files to the S36EE - AND I WISH THEY WOULD PUT IT BACK!!! - eventually the stragglers were converting and buying i5's (I know because every year I would do some).I would imagine that code took zero maintenace between releases... Besides the obvious answer (convert to OS/400!! :- ) ), Does anybody know of anyproblems reported in this area? Thanks for your help,
