Bill,

I've installed FREE Gpg from binaries on a V5R3 (iSeries - not i/5) and tried
to create a key pair thru vnc.

Everything goes fine until the last step when it asks the passphrase. It stays
there for a very very long time. Finally I got a message that said "We need to
generate a lot of random bytes. Perform other actions...type .. etc.etc." I
really typed a lot but it seems that nothing happened again for a long long
time. I got another message that said "We need to generate a lot of random
bytes. Perform other actions...type ....."

Be patient.

After a another very long time you got a message saying that the keys have been
generated.
Then delete hundreds of QPJOBLOG reports.

Now you can import and trust other public recipient keys (also PGP generated
keys) and finally encrypt your file with a command like this:

"gpg -e -r 'Giuseppe Costagliola' --yes /home/costagliol/alfa.xls"

This can be inserted in a script to be run with Qsh.

Encription is fast and this file can be decrypted back with gpg (free) or pgp
(with license).

The setup is not fast and simple as with PGP but this allows you to bypass the
PGP license restriction.

Giuseppe.
