So how do we accomodate both your idea and the goal to get people to stay? Jerry: As you know COMMON has tried a multitude of things to get people to come to various sessions. Way back in the early 90s we had trouble getting people to come to the opening session. Bob LaBont the IBM VP of Sales had some important things he really wanted COMMON members to hear. I suggested a fun giveaway...like an AS/400! IBM's Bill Zeitler gave us two new small AS/400s to give away --- you had to be there to win! It worked! The room was packed and we 400 in an overflow room! The two people's names we drew were in the the overflow room!! It wasn't until we had drawn the third name did someone in the back yell out..."Anne, the other two are in the overflow room!!" Thankfully, IBM was gracious enough to give us THREE AS/400s!! Just a little history on COMMON/IBM giveaways. Don, I have to disagree with you (not that I ever had before!!) There is absolutely nothing wrong with requiring people to be present to win. It all depends on: Why are you having the drawing? What do you want to accomplish by it? Is the drawing relevant to the goals of the organization? The goals of the session? ************************ Have a blessed day!
