Hi,

Thanks a lot for all the answers.

It means that doing an IPL D without putting a LIC CD in the optical drive is
not possible in my case because my tape drive is not on bus 1. So I must insert
this CD and specify that my tape drive is an installation unit, if I want to
install microcode and OS from the tape. Is it right ?

Regards.

Basic difference between an 'Alternate "INSTALLATION" device' and an
'Alternate "IPL" device' is that do to a reload on a totaled system from a
tape drive defined as an 'Alternate "INSTALLATION" device' is that you
have to IPL from some other device, like an original LIC CD in the optical
drive and then continue the restore from the 'Alternate "INSTALLATION"
device'.
As pointed out, the details are in the backup and recovery guide.
