Been awhile since we disposed of our 3570's.  But we didn't use tape 
management software with them.  On our 3581's we changed them from 
'random' mode to 'sequential' mode and just use them like regular tape 
drives.  Perhaps it's something like that.  Or, were you looking for the 
capabilities of tape management, without the price?
