I've gone through the archives and it seems that the recommended way to get
local host IP address is via gethostbyname function call.

I am not clear however if the best way to get the host name to feed to that
function is by using gethostname function or RTVNETA command.

Which one is more reliable?  Or perhaps there's no difference?

Also, if I'm on the wrong track, please be kind and set me straight :-)
