A few other issues,If you have program described this file you must test the effect on field positions. If you pass parameters that include the field you change you have to look at that also. If you use embedded SQL and you put the information into a program described data structure you need to change those programs. I also recommend that you do NOT use LVLCHK(* NO) it causes problems that don't show immediately.
