I agree. Start the job search process right away. From my personal experience, I got downsized a little over two years ago from an iSeries programmer/analyst position. Got 13 weeks of severance pay and found a job in 7 doing essentially the same thing but for more money. I miss the people and have nothing but good memories of working there but as they say, change is inevitable. The biggest thing was the reality check to get off my butt. I'm not inferring that's the case for you but I had been coasting along for awhile. I took that opportunity to start learning more about ILE and switch to programming in /Free. I'm now working on an MBA (which my new company is paying for). Look for the new job but think about what you could/want to be doing. Good luck!
