ODBC connections tend to eat a lot of iSeries resource is the query is not properly built, not to mention that those connections run at the same priority as interactive sessions. I had one client who had to upgrade to a bigger faster machine to get acceptable performance from his Crystal Reports activity. The eventually threw out that solution in favor of SEQUEL from ASC (www.asc-iseries.com). The resulting reports are just as good as those generated by C-R, and run a whole lot faster.
