No internal UPS so that is not the issue. This system is from the first RISC models before the CPM UPS' and the larger models had the internal batteries. Think of this as a B10 on steroids. Eventually, those batteries fail. When the power went down, those UPS's would beep kinda like you're describing. Maybe bad batteries are messing up the power detector.
