Actually, Minneapolis was a big surprise to me. Town was OK, weather was
good...and I found affordable hotels walking distance from the conf
center... Granted, it snowed on the last day of the conference... :)

The benefit of a Rochester location would be easy access to iSeries
Technical folks - like we had in Toronto last fall and in Minneapolis in
2001. The more lab folks we can see the better, and more importantly,
the more lab folks that get to see and talk to us, and understand what
our issues are, the better.

I don't know about Rochester. One of the false draws
might be a tour of
the IBM building. And frankly, you'd be better off
spending more time in
the actual sessions soaking up knowledge. And it might be
rather
depressing seeing all the "For Lease" signs in front of
all of the IBM
white buildings just to the immediate north. I see enough
of these "for
lease" signs in the front lawn of work.

What about going to one conference a year? With the
decline of conference
attendance and demand, wouldn't one conference a year
suffice?

And, what about Vegas?

Speaking as a Member, (and not as a board member) I think
there are a
lot of benefits to one conference a year. But if everyone
were to
decide to do it today, it would still take a while to make
it all
happen.

And I don't know what the Hotel capacity of Rochester MN
is, but that
would be a great (warm month) place to have a conference.
