Heat,humidity,dirt and folks who drop things. Farmers are not known for "neatness". There are several companies that can help with a "hostile environment" device. I think IBM did offer a Thinkpad with RF that was designed for that type of operations, but there are many other folks that do similar things. As mentioned by Carl, it has to operate in an environment that is not really harsh, but absolutely not device-friendly. Are there other important arguments to think of when choosing the device?
