On my V5R3 machine if I 
CRTPF FILE(QTEMP/TEMPFILE) RCDLEN(134)
the data type is simply character.  If I 
CRTPF FILE(QTEMP/TEMPFILE) RCDLEN(134) igcdta(*yes)
the data type is Open.

Can't seem to find a definition for 'Open'.
