We can specify the code page as well but after trying
several I decided to ask because I do not have much
experience in the Linux environment and thought maybe
someone had already been through this.

Can you software write PDF file directly to a Linux box?

What are you using to create the PDF files? I know some
software is more "picky" about exact PDF specs than others,
and one wrong byte and they won't like them.

I know on my software that creates PDFs you have the option
of selecting the code page to use (defaults to 819).
