Have you found useful information on Landmark other than this? http://phx.corporate-ir.net/phoenix.zhtml?c=129966&p=irol-newsArticle&ID=707 053&highlight=landmark -Jim -----Original Message----- From: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Mike Wills Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2005 5:07 PM To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion Subject: Re: possible Lawson newbie Won't be much longer. You know those... very long... very passionate... discussions about RPG vs. Java? Well... Java won Lawson's heart. They are "refactoring" all of their applications to Java. They aren't calling it a rewrite (I want whatever they are smoking/drinking). Not only that, users can "write their own programs" using this scripting lanugage that all programs will be written in. Read up on Lawson's Landmark project for more details. Big thing I see is iSeries gets the applications same time as everyone else and I can ask the Unix/NT guys for help on coding now. I have a lot of questions and not formulating an opinion before knowing the full story (basically is in my hands). So anyway, back to what I was saying... with the java version, obviously, you can release it on all platforms at the same time. In this case it is cool.
