hell, Dan, I figured the next iteration of this was a challenge on who had the biggest.... And, frankly, I had a really good dinner and just wasn't interested in losing my dinner.... :)

There's alot of good conferences put on by really talented and technically sharp folks. Look at the agendas, crank the numbers on the costs and make a decision.

'nuff said.

OK....

Guys, I tell you what, each of you running conferences give me a gratis
ticket to them and I'll write a spotlight column next spring on which
ones
I liked the best....:)

For application development you have:

<commercial_interest>

RPG World (www.rpgworld.com) - which focuses on RPG - and is clearly
the
best <grin>.

</commercial_interest>

DevCon (http://devcon.iseries400experts.com)- also application
development
but less RPG and a lot of Java and WebSphere.

Ahem. And while Jon may list both of these conferences, please note
that he and Susan appear at both, while many speakers appear ONLY at
iSeries DevCon <g>.

Seriously, I don't attend RPG World so I can't tell you much about it,
but I do know that DevCon kicks butt. To be honest, it reminds me of
COMMON back in the 80's; smaller, but with tons of energy. Lots of
hands on labs, and the group that runs it wants to be sure that you are
working with the latest stuff. I'll be teaching a bunch of sessions
and
labs on JSP Model II, George Farr will be there with the latest from
IBM; it's an incredible show and worth every penny.

And I love the RIO Hotel.
