Martin,

I recently used a udl file for the first time. If you haven't already
done this, you can create an empty file in notepad with a udl extension
and then double-click it. It will launch the Data Link Properties
window where you define the connection, provider, etc.

subject: Using a .udl file on Windows to set up an OLE DB connection
    to the iSeries

Hi folks

I need to set up a 3rd party application to export its data to our
iSeries. The method they have provided uses OLE DB. Their system does
work exporting to MS SQL server (for a sister company using the same
software) and they have added the capability for DB2 on the iSeries .
In order to test it, I need to set up a .udl file (Microsoft Data
Link) for the connection. I'm not familiar with OLE DB, and the IBM
docs that describe it all seem to predate the use of .udl files (I
found a redbook, but it was from 1998 and only mentions Win'95 & NT).

Can anyone point me in the right direction for configuring this link -
I'd appreciate it.

Regards, Martin"
