Are you sure you are getting postscript? Postscript is supposed to be a device independant language. There isn't a "Xerox" or "IBM" format. Take a look at the postscript file itself with a text editor or something. The first line should have something like this:

%!PS-Adobe-2.0

If it doesn't, it probably isn't postscript.
