Rob,

Check out the QQFEnvironment API. From
http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27004604&aid=3:

"WebFacing provides an OS/400 API that will return a value that
indicates whether the
application is running as a 5250 interactive application or as WebFacing
application. That
API is called QqfEnvironment (case sensitive) and is in service program
QQFENV in
library QSYS. This service program is installed as a result of
installing the latest
WebFacing PTFs that include the WebFacing server run-time. The API will
return a 0
(zero) if the application is running as a 5250 application, or a 1
(numeric 1) if it is
running as a WebFacing application."

Charles

Many thanks for your kind efforts. I am not using webfacing and all my
virtual devices, whether for browser or
5250 emulator, begin QPAD* so I cannot test the job name. I am sure
that there is an answer if I can find it

best wishes

Rob
