Brad, The Vertex tax package is fun! The software relies on Geocodes which is necessary because Zip Codes aren't specific enough to charge the correct taxes. For example, we have a store in Colorado that's in a redevelopment zone which requires us to charge an improvement fee. The mall the store is in is straddles the redevelopment zone. Every store in the mall shares the same address of the mall (they all have the same address and zip code). But the stores aren't all in the same geographic area (redevelopment zone) for this improvement fee. Some stores in the mall have to charge the fee and some don't. Different geocodes are needed.
