Interesting idea's about the object auditing and triggers.
I wonder if DSPPGMREF would show you
 - imbedded SQL, etc?
 - If so, what about imbedded sql from a PREPAREd statement?
 - Or traditional RPGLE from a file with an OVRDBF on it?
 - Or a file with
FDUMMY     ...               extname(MyVar) USROPN
/free
 MyVar='MYLIB/MYFILE';
 Open(e) dummy;

Re: A bad Monday question

Hi Bob

I guess you could do worse than turning object auditing on. I can't quite
think of exactly what set of system values you want but this is the area
you are probably best to look at. You should be able to see what programs
use a file although it may take a while to trap them all (like, a month to

get through an end of month).

You would simply have to change the system values (QAUDCTL and QAUDLVL I
think) to something appropriate and then specify that the object is to be
audit by hmm.. CHGPF ? You'll end up with a journal you have to trawsl
through.

Depending what your interested in another option is simply to journal the
file. This will get you any programs that cause updates, deletions or
inserts to the table.

Finally, I suppose you could add a trigger that took the calling program
name and wrote it somewhere. This is more of an idle thinking out loud
suggestion.
