I've obviously been out of this for far too long. And when I was involved, I
primarily used WAF APIs rather than the HFS APIs. Still, I can't see any way to
specify such a path for the HFS APIs.

Can you provide a sample value for the path parameter of the Open Stream File
(QHFOPNSF) API for example that can not be seen via IFS?

WAF APIs are specific to the WAF/ImagePlus/OnDemand application. Files are not accessed by name but instead by a database key (document id).

I don't have an example of QHFOPNSF to provide, but just look at the parms in the HFS manual or on the InfoCenter. The 2nd & 3rd are Path & Path length. By path they mean complete path and file name.

For example, a path name for an optical file might be:
/QOPT/VOLUME01A/MYDIR/MYFILE.EXT

Both direct and LAN attached volumes use the same path format.
