SAVDIR not recognizing tape drive

I am trying to do a directory save to a tape drive that we use every night 
(TAP03) and I am receiving this message..Any suggestions?

Message . . . . :   Specified value on DEV parameter not valid.               
Cause . . . . . :   A value specified on the device (DEV) parameter must be a 
  tape, diskette, save file, media library, or optical volume.                
Recovery  . . . :   Change the value on the DEV parameter and try the request 
  again.
