It has been my understanding that Express versions are no-charge no matter what the version. But then I got to questioning myself... I was only able to find full confirmation of such about V5R3 only, though. In this redbook: http://www.redbooks.ibm.com/abstracts/redp3975.html?Open I don't say things are gospel unless I can find IBM confirmation. It's when you get to standard and network deployment where payment is required for licensing on WAS 6 on V5R3. Page 127 of this redbook states: Question: Do I need to purchase WebSphere Application Server - Express if I am running i5/OS V5R3? Does V5R3 already include this? Answer: i5/OS V5R3 includes a no-charge version of WebSphere Application Server - Express, so you do not need to purchase the product. Service and updates are handled through i5/OS software support. This license does not include a WebSphere Development Studio Client for iSeries license. If you do not already have WebSphere Development Studio Client entitlement, you can order it through Passport Advantage.
