Occasionally this is a bad thing, but that depends on your unique 
situation.  For example, if IBM ever sends you a 'test' ptf do not 
permanently apply it.  Because a new fix may involve removing the ptf, 
reloading it and reapplying it.  If it has been permanently applied then 
all you can do is reinstall the licensed program.  You will never find a 
test ptf on cume or group media.  It is something IBM only sends you to 
fix a situation you called in and someone at your organization will know.

Another time when it may be an issue is if you have multiple Domino 
products, like Quickplace or Sametime, in addition to Domino.  Sometimes 
they do strange things like "after you put on the new version of product 
xxxx you should remove and reapply the ptf's for product yyyy"; although 
that is not as common as it used to be.
