I'm not sure of your level of experience on the AS/400 - iSeries systems, but using referenced fields in your DDS doesn't necessarily ensure the same field names. It really depends on how you specify the field reference information in your DDS:


1) If you use the REF keyword in your DDS at the file level, then the fields you define must have the same name as the field being referenced in the field reference file.

2) However, if you specify field reference information in your DDS at the field level, you can name your field however you desire, referencing the individual field from which to derive its definition from the field reference file.
