If you're going from an AS/400 client to a Windows server, and you issue this command: quote site na 1 500 'SITE na 1': command not understood the Windows server won't understand the command. NAMEFMT is a command only known to the AS/400. Now, if you were going from a Windows client to an AS/400 server, and you issued this command: ftp> quote site na 1 250 Now using naming format "1". Then the AS/400 would return with the 250 message indicating that it changed to NAMEFMT 1. This would also work: ftp> cd /wcslog 250-NAMEFMT set to 1. 250 "/wcslog" is current directory. > -------- Original Message -------- > Subject: RE: FTPing from the IFS > From: ron_adams@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Date: Thu, March 31, 2005 12:48 pm > To: Midrange Systems Technical Discussion <midrange-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > > Interesting, I wasn't aware of that. > > Call me anal or a perfectionist, but I just prefer my commands to have a > good return code when I run them.
