Michael,  you wrote the following to answer Dave's questions.  I just
wanted to say BRAVO for showing him the DB2 catalog.   

While there is at least one good product out there that creates good
documentation on where each file/field, etc., (or better yet in
relational terms, table and column, index, etc.) are, any DB2's SYS...
catalogs are a good place to start.
