Ok, am I crazy?  I just changed the line above to this:
infile = fopen ("/home/james/test.ps", "rb");

and it always results in NULL. I checked to verify the file exists. I've done this a thousand times in C before on other platforms. What am I doing wrong?

This really belongs on the C400-L mailing list... but...
On the iSeries, there are two fopen() functions. One is for reading standard iSeries files, and the other is for reading the IFS.


You need to make sure you're using the right one... look in the information center under the fopen() function, and it'll explain it.
